Misr Al Gadida Participates in “New Life of a Timeless Heritage” Exhibition at Ghurnata Community Space

Misr Al Gadida took part in the “New Life of a Timeless Heritage: Contemporary Approaches to Reusing Historic Buildings in Egypt” exhibition and seminar at the Ghurnata Community Space under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, in celebration of World Architecture Day. The event, held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Al-Hanager Arts Center, was organized in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Culture and the National Organization for Urban Harmony, chaired by Engineer Mohamed Abu Saada. The seminar and exhibition explored modern practices in repurposing heritage buildings to support community development and raise awareness of architectural heritage through cultural and artistic events, contributing to improved urban life quality. The seminar was led by Dr. Galal Obada, member of the Fine Arts and Architecture Committee and Professor of Architecture at Ain Shams University. Dr. Dalila El-Kordy, member of the Supreme Council of Culture and Professor of Architecture at Cairo University, delivered a lecture on revitalizing historic buildings in New Cairo, including Ghurnata Community Space and Sultana Malak Palace. She also highlighted other projects such as converting Bayt Yakan into a cultural center, reviving the architectural character of post offices, and repurposing the Sultan Qaitbay complex and Abbas Bazaar in Port Said.
